Dhaulagiri Circuit Trekking is known as Dhaulagiri Round Trek. This trek is very famous as well as the most challenging trekking trail in the hidden valley of central Nepal in the Annapurna region. Mt: Dhaulagiri is (8,167 m) world-famous 8th highest mountain it lies in Nepal located in the northwest of the Capital of Kathmandu. This trekking it’s a kind of standard mountain adventure expedition for that high altitude trekking experience for those adventure lovers. The Circuit of Dhaulagiri trek starts from Beni bank of the Kali Gandaki River; this excellent trekking path climbs up to the beautiful and untouched valley of the Myagdi “Khola” which means a Small River that floods southwards from the heart of the Mt: Dhaulagiri. Continue we walking, all the way through ever-changing scenery, among various charming villages, and we reach Base camp of Dhaulagiri as well as set up ourselves for the root of our direction. Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350 m) transfer to Hotel O/N B.B plans.
You have to take an early breakfast at Hotel, your guide picks you up from the hotel and takes you to your Tourist bus station and drives to Pokhara, normally it is approximately 200 kilometers but it takes 6 to 7 hours drive. When you reach the Pokhara and then transfer to Hotel, Evening talk about the next day's program.with your guide.
Day 02: Half day Sightseeing in Kathmandu valley O/N Hotel B.B plans.
This is the fantastic half-day sightseeing tour around Kathmandu world heritage site. Your city guide picks up you from the hotel with private vehicle and takes to you Kathmandu Durbar square, Showyambhunath (Monkey Temple), Pashupatinath and Boudhanath Stupa. Then back to the hotel for the preparing trekking gear for Dhaulagiri trek overnight hotel with bed and breakfast plan.
Day 03: Fly or drive to Pokhara (910 M) and drive to Beni (899 m) O/N F.B plans.
This is the day leaving Kathmandu either flight or ground transportation. It depends with your cost, If you go by flight it takes 25 minutes to Pokhara and drives to Beni Bazaar, otherwise direct drive to Beni bazaar by private vehicle or by public bus it will take around 8-9 hours. After reaching Beni Bazaar overnight lodge or tented camp with the full board meal plan.
Day 04: Trek Beni to Babichaur (1,000 m) 6-7 hrs walk O/N tented FB plans.
Today your adventure journey starts from Beni 6-7 hours walk flowing Kali Gandaki and heading towards Northridge of Myagdi Khola. We’ll continue passing through beautiful rice field terraced, the village of Mangalghat, Singa and natural hot spring (Tatopani). After Tatopani continue to cross the suspension bridge twice before and near to Simalchaur village then turn back to the north side from where trails lead you Babiyachaur overnight tented Camp.
Day 05: Babichaur to Dharapani (1,565 m) 7 hrs walk O/N tented FB plans.
Second-day hike after breakfast beautiful path leads you to continue along the Myagdi Khola passing several villages and Dudh Khola. Today our lunch place around the Darbang then crossing big suspension bridge continues ascending steep uphill towards Dharapani. Dharapani, offer the amazing view of Gurja Himal and Dhaulagiri IV, Dhaulagiri V, overnight tented camp.
Day 06: Dharapani to Muri (1,850 m) 6-7 hrs walk O/N tented FB plans.
Flowing the scheduled breakfast crossing the river along the west bank you leave the Phedi and trails ascending till to ridge. The trails go continue to ascend towards Muri village passing through Sibang and Mattim after north ridge descends to Ghatti Khola. From here cross the Dhara Khola again flow along the Myagdi Khola west side and climb the north ridge to get big Magar settlement of Muri village where we tented for overnight.
Day 07: Muri to Boghara (2,050 m) 7-8 hrs walk O/N tented FB plans.
Today trails begin to descend and cross the watercourse continue to pass through the terraced field and ascend to reach the ridge of Pass. Pass presents you beautiful view of Mt. Ghustung south which is found (6,465 m) above the sea level. Again trails descend to Myagdi Khola and flowing west site to Naura village then continue to ascend gradually to the grassy hill. Then again ascend the steep slope to the ridge and descend passing through forest and terraced field to Boghara overnight tented camp.
Day 08: Boghara to Dhobang (2,630 m) 6 hrs walk O/N tented FB plans.
Trails begin again descend to Jyardan which is the last remote settlement in this region passing through forest terraced field and small ridge. After that trails lead you to cross rocky area and descend before a climb to Lipshe. From here again trail passing through woodland to Lapche Kharka and again ascending to Dorbang for overnight.
Day 09: Trek from Dhobang to Choriban Khola (3,110m) 6 hrs walk O/N tented FB plans.
Today you will cross the wooden bridge also can see how they build in mountain area and the trail goes through the forest out of Dhobang. After while you can have great west fest view of Mt. Dhaulagiri I (8,167 m) 7th highest mountain in the world. Again the trails go descend to Myagdi Khola cross the bridge flow the east bank of the river to Chartare. Well, again you will pass through forest cross the stream across the rocky area then Choriban Khola for overnight.
Day 10: Choriban to Italien Base camp (3,500 m) 6 - 7 hrs walk O/N tented FB plans.
Today we continue through Chhonbarban glacier from where we entering the right. So flowing the trails ahead you will have amazing views of Tukuche peak (6,837m) and again massive Mt. Dhaulagiri I. after while you will reach the Italian base camp elevation to be found (3,660m) above the sea level. From here you can observe picturesque views of Mt. Dhaulagiri II (7,757m), Dhaulagiri III (7,715m), and Dhaulagiri V (7,618m) overnight tented.
Day 11: Rest for Acclimatization explores walks O/N tented FB plans.
After breakfast, you can go explore around enjoy the view of the snowcapped mountain and back to the campsite then if the weather is good you can clean your laundry. Acclimatization very important in altitude area while adjusting with thinning air.
Day 12: Italian Base camp to Glacier camp (4,250 m) 5 hrs walk O/N tented FB plans.
Today trails passing through prone stone fall narrow gorge so better starts early in the morning while the climate is expected to be clear. After crossing the rock falling narrow gorge then you will reach the glacier camp overnight tented.
Day 13: Glacier Camp to Dhaulagiri Base camp (4,650 m) 4 hrs walk O/N tented FB plans.
Dhaulagiri Base camp trek one of the adventurous day. From here you can see exciting north face of Mt. Dhaulagiri I including other peaks Mt. Dhaulagiri II, Dhaulagiri III, Dhaulagiri V. Just right in front of you can see incredible descends from the north col of Dhaulagiri overnight tented camp.
Day 14: Another Acclimatization day walks O/N tented FB plans.
Second acclimatization day for the thinner air after breakfast you can go for exploring around. There is plenty of places where you enjoy the best glorious views of the Himalayas.
Day 15: Dhaulagiri Base Camp to Hidden Valley 6 hrs walk O/N tented FB plans.
After flow the glacier you will ascend to the two hills. The first hill which is run along the glacier then cut across the mountainside moraine then goes through incline of the left gorge. After, while you will climb to gentle slope to reach the French pass 5,360m). French pass presents great views of snowcapped mountains including Mt, Sita Chuchura (6,611m), Tashi Khang, Mukut Himal (6,328m) which is surrounded around the hidden valley. From the pass continues to right edge along the Thapa pass (5,245m) which is lies between Thapa and Tukuche Peaks. From the Thapa, pass descend to the base camp where we tented camp for overnight.
Day 16: Hidden Valley to Yak Kharka (4,200 m) 6 hrs walk O/N tented FB plans.
Today we cross the Dhampus Pass (5,240m) and descend towards Yak Kharka, Dhampus Pass is also another dreamland in this trips which is lies between Tukuche and Thapa peaks. Yak Kharka is the beautiful paradise it has wonderful campsite present to you beautiful views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range, overnight tented camp.
Day 17: Yak Kharka to Jomsom (2,715 m) 7-8 hrs walk O/N tea-house FB plans.
After breakfast, we descend along the edge of the mountain to the beautiful village of Marpha. Marpha is the capital of Nepalese apple where you can find many verities of fruits. This village lies in a narrow valley in the bank of the Kali Gandaki River and area inhabited by the ethnic groups of Thakali people. These areas people flow the Tibetan Buddhist culture. After exploring the Marpha we continue west towards Jomsom overnight lodge.
Day 18: Jomsom to Pokhara 20 minute by mountain flight O/N Hotel BB plans.
Following early breakfast, you will take the morning flight to get Pokhara this is a really short flight which it takes around 20 minutes. After reaching Pokhara airport transfer to Hotel and you can rest in the Leisure City of Pokhara.
Day 19: Drive to Kathmandu by tourist Bus 6-7 hrs drive O/N Hotel BB plans.
From Pokhara, after early breakfast, you will drop to the Tourist bus park and drive back to Kathmandu. Our small highway presents you beautiful countryside scenic when you reach the Kathmandu then transfer to hotel with bed and breakfast plan overnight. After freshness, you can visit our office and evening farewell dinner with an office person in Nepali typical cultural restaurant.
Day 20: Final departure transfer to airport trips to end.
This is the final departure day so we check your flight details and we drop to you at the international airport to catch your scheduled flight to get back home whish you safe journey see you soon.
Useful Info
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Every effort will be made to keep to the above itinerary, but as this is adventure travel in a remote mountain region, we cannot guarantee it! Weather conditions and the health of trekkers can all contribute to changes. The guides and their Sherpa assistants will try to ensure that the trip runs according to plan, but please be prepared to be flexible if necessary.
Experience Required: This Trek is suitable for keen walkers who are able to walk for 6 – 7 hours in a day, with a light rucksack. Some of the days are quite long, and the walking feels more strenuous at altitude. Generally, the trail is a good track, but occasionally it will be uneven and rocky.
Food & Accommodation: You will be accommodated in the tea house & during trekking. Tea houses are simple, local-run guesthouses with twin-share or single rooms. Toilets and showers are of varying standards.
Typical food available for lunch and dinner is Nepali rice & lentils, pasta, potato dishes, soups, or pizzas. Delicious pancakes, porridge, toast, and eggs are the main breakfast fare, while tea, coffee, and hot chocolate are always available. You will probably be pleasantly surprised at the variety of food at the lodges.
What about our luggage?
1 Porter will be shared between 2 participants, they take a maximum load of 12kgs per participant.
You may keep things you will not use on the trek at our hotel in Kathmandu.
What will the temperature be like?
Basically, the atmospheric temperature fluctuates between -10 to 25 degrees throughout the day.
When we are trekking, the temperature would be on the high. For trekking, our concerns are focused on sun and wind exposure. To protect yourselves, you can wear long trekking pants or convertibles, in case it gets to warm, and a dry-fit long sleeve top and have the rain shell or outer waterproof layer accessible.
You’ll need your fleece or maybe the down jackets for those who are more afraid of cold when we reach the lodgings or at night to keep warm.
How much money should we bring?
You will need to carry Nepali Rupee if you decide you want to more shower than 3 times or have additional hot water on the trek. At the trekking lodges, you may wish to buy specialty menu items as well, or pick up souvenirs on the trek. Shopping can be done on your last day in the Thamel area.
What about Acute Mountaineering Sickness (AMS)?
AMS occurs to different people differently at different altitudes due to our tolerance level.
Signs of AMS include Dizziness, Nausea, Loss of Appetite, Fatigue or weakness, Shortness of breath, Drowsiness, and Fluctuation.

Prevention of AMS:
Adequate REST prior to the trip.
Adequate HYDRATION during the trek or activity. (It is alright to keep going to the look, it is good for you)
Adequate SALT AND SUGAR in your bloodstream. (Basically, EAT)
Adequate WARMTH. (Keep yourself warm and try to not lose as much heat as possible to maintain bodily functions)
PROPER BREATHING. (Breathe deep into the diaphragm, breathe slow and steady. Breathe through your nose. Do not pant.)
PROPER EXERTION. (Go at a constant, manageable pace, do not chase after the person in front, and try not to keep stopping and starting)
